Leadership Talks: Brickell Key Location Maile

Location, location, location—it’s a phrase often used in real estate and one that lends itself well to discussing the beauty of Brickell Key. Located in the heart of Miami’s urban core, Brickell Key has long been a destination for discerning buyers who want it all, and this vibrant island is unlike anywhere else in Miami.

I have spent much of my career working on new condominium developments on Brickell Key with Swire. Over the years, Swire has contributed significantly to the Miami skyline, and it’s been remarkable to watch Brickell Key grow and evolve. Since I started working for Swire in 1994, I’ve seen Brickell Key’s evolution from a financial center to a mixed-use island with residential living, office towers, and world-class hospitality – particularly with the Mandarin Oriental, Miami, and the forthcoming Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, which is a feat of unparalleled luxury with amenities to match.

This July marks the 128th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Miami. Swire has been an integral part of the City’s growth for much of that time. Since the 1970s, when Swire first started developing Brickell Key, we have committed to the long-term growth of the island community and the overall strength of Miami as a global destination for property buyers and visitors alike.

Today, Brickell Key features a diverse population, including many young professionals and their families who want to work close to home while enjoying the wide selection of food, beverage, and nightlife options nearby. Plus, with nearby Brickell City Centre, residents of Brickell Key have top-of-the-line retail only 10 minutes away.

Some of my fondest memories over the years include the time I’ve spent with buyers, many of whom had already looked at other properties in Miami but were blown away by Brickell Key’s location, the island’s features, including its Baywalk (the only continuous Island Baywalk in Miami) and overall walkability (Brickell Key is a stone’s throw from Brickell City Centre and Miami’s Design District), and the fact that it is positioned in the heart of Miami.

Looking to the future, I believe Brickell Key will become even more of a global destination within Miami. Some might say that predicting the future is a fool’s errand, but as someone with insight into the Residences at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami – I can give you a bit of insider information… this new development is the project of a lifetime for me. The South Tower, which is already showing very strong sales numbers, is a gleaming tower with 228 residences, each featuring top-of-the-line finishes, gorgeous floorplans, and unparalleled views.

As for The Residences’ amenities? I truly do not think we’ve built a building to date that offers as many amenities as we’re offering here, all boasting Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service. From an Ocean Pool with five cabanas and lounges and a Lagoon Pool with six private casitas, both with poolside lounge service provided by Mandarin Oriental, to an indoor golf simulator as well as multi-use sports courts, hot and cold therapy including sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge, the amenities are unmatched among new developments in Miami.

With the demographic shifts we’re seeing in Miami, such as a developing tech presence, I can only imagine the future of this beautiful city as symbiotic with its new and old residents. Miami has always been a city with something for everyone, from the sand and surf to the phenomenal retail and nightlife, and I know that both the Residences at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami and the new Mandarin Oriental, Miami hotel will only add to the city’s vibrancy as well as reinforce Brickell Key’s status as a place Miami residents and visitors want to go!
